Donut Ice Cream Sandwiches



– 1/2 dozen plain donuts – raised or cake – 1/2 dozen donuts – raised or cake with frosting of your choice – 6 scoops Real California vanilla ice cream, slightly softened – Multicolored cake sprinkles (optional)

Prep time: About 10 minutes, plus freezing time

To assemble, place one plain donut on a baking sheet or pan. Top with ice cream, spreading it into an even layer. Top with one frosted donut. Repeat until all six sandwiches are assembled. Seal tightly with plastic wrap and freeze until firm, at least 6 hours or overnight.

Optional: [Before wrapping.] Arrange sprinkles on a small plate. Take each sandwich and press the edges into the sprinkles. Serve immediately or refreeze until ready to serve. Use additional sprinkles as topping.
